DISCUSSION OF THE IMPORTANCE OF DOMESTIC AND SOCIAL SITUATIONS (HUSBAND-WIFE RELATIONSHIP, RELATIONSHIP WITH FAMILIES, LIVING AND EMPLOYMENT ARRANGEMENTS) TO FEMALE OFFENDERS RELEASED AFTER SERVING LONG PRISON TERMS.
Abstract
STRESSED IS THE FACT THAT THE MAJOR DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED IMMEDIATELY UPON RELEASE, PARTICULARLY THOSE RELATING TO POOR HOME ENVIRONMENT AND MARITAL PROBLEMS, WERE PROBABLY CONTRIBUTING FACTORS IN THE ORIGINAL OFFENSE (ESPECIALLY IN CRIMES OF PASSION). THE USE OF HALFWAY HOUSES AND PRERELEASE PROGRAMS TO AID IN THE SOCIAL REINTEGRATION OF THE FEMALE EX-OFFENDER IS HIGHLIGHTED. --IN FRENCH...ELW
