Abstract
This review begins with a brief history of the development of social skills training, identifies the importance of children's social skills to adjustment in later life, and suggests goals for social skills training. The report identifies methods that have the greatest potential to assess social skills, reviews programs for the general population and for different populations, and discusses current issues.
