THE AUTHOR STATES THAT THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, IN PARTICULAR, THE PRISON SYSTEM, REJECTS THE BASIC HUMANITY OF THE OFFENDER.
Abstract
THE EXISTENCE OF INSTITUTIONALIZED RACISM WITHIN THE SYSTEM IS SUGGESTED. THE AUTHOR RECOMMENDS THAT THOSE INDIVIDUALS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND ADMINISTRATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THEIR GOAL IS TO RE-EDUCATE THE OFFENDER AND ATTEMPT TO RESTRUCTURE THE SOCIETY WHICH HELPED FORM THE OFFENDER'S BEHAVIOR.
