COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE FINDINGS OF A RESEARCH STUDY CONDUCTED IN ROME, ITALY, WITH THOSE EMERGING FROM SIMILAR STUDIES IN OTHER COUNTRIES.
Abstract
BASED ON THE RESULTS OF AN INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH STUDY ON A SAMPLE OF 200 YOUNG DRUG-ADDICTS AND UTILIZING THE LITERATURE AND FINDINGS OF EXPERTS IN OTHER COUNTRIES, THE ARTICLE PROPOSES A SERIES OF THESES OR PROPOSITIONS TO ILLUSTRATE THE CHARACTERISTICS AND SOCIO-CULTURAL MOTIVATIONS OF JUVENILE DRUG ADDICTION IN ITALY. THESE PROPOSITIONS, WHICH ARE SUPPORTED BY COMPARATIVE STATISTICAL DATA, INDICATE INTER ALIA, THAT THE DIFFUSION OF DRUG ADDICTION VARIES ACCORDING TO AGE-GROUPS REACHING ITS MAXIMUM IN THE 16-25 GROUP, IS MORE FREQUENT AMONG MALES AND UNIFORMLY DISTRUBUTED AMONG THE POPULATION. IN THE MAIN YOUNG DRUG ADDICTS COME FROM BROKEN FAMILIES. DRUG ADDICTION IN YOUTH IS OFTEN A SYMPTOM OF A CONFLICT WITH THE SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT AND CAN BE DEFINED AS AN EXTREME MANIFESTATION OF JUVENILE MALADJUSTMENT. THERE ARE TABLES AND BIBLIOGRAPHIC REFERENCES. --IN ITALIAN
