This book presents studies which analyzed the steps and stages of reform of important domains in the Romanian society: the justice system, child’s rights protection, and the juvenile justice system.
Abstract
The analysis and research carried out by the author started from the transforming potential the law has for a society in transition and also from the transformations the law itself is experiencing worldwide. The studies in this book present some results of the international and national research projects, specifically the reform occurring within the Romanian society. The study entitled Restorative Justice and Victim Offender Mediation Romania focuses on the comparative analysis of restorative practices and legislations in different European countries, explores the potential restorative justice has in contributing to the reform of the justice system, and makes an analysis of the national regulations and practices in relation to restorative justice, mediation, and victim-offender mediation. The study entitled Child and Childhood in Romania evaluates the stage of the child welfare reform in Romania. Since 1990, Romania has been involved in a process of reform and transition to a democratic society. Within it, and as a priority, the reform of the criminal justice system is paramount. The research carried out evaluated the most important changes occurring within the Romanian criminal justice system as a result of the implementation of diversion strategies. References and annexes
