DISCUSSION OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL OBLIGATION PLACED UPON PROVINCIAL LEGISLATURES IN CANADA TO MAKE PROVISION FOR ADEQUATE POLICE EDUCATION AND TRAINING WITHIN THE PROVINCES.
Abstract
THE UNEVENNESS OF POLICE TRAINING CAUSED BY THE DIVISION OF POLICE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES AMONG MUNICIPAL, PROVINCIAL, AND FEDERAL AUTHORITIES IS REVIEWED. TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL TRENDS FOR POLICE IN THE US AND BRITAIN ARE BRIEFLY SURVEYED AND COMPONENTS OF THESE SYSTEMS WHICH CAN BE ADAPTED TO THE CANDAIAN SCHEME ARE EMPHASIZED. A PHILOSOPHY FOR POLICE TRAINING AND EDUCATION IS PROPOSED.
