Criminal justice statistics for South Australia for 1993- 1994 are provided.
Abstract
As stated in this annual report, the highlight of this financial year is the development of an extract procedure so that raw data can be interrogated and disseminated in a number of ways. This report represents the first time that crime statistics were prepared using this procedure, providing valuable insight into the levels of reported crime and allowing comparisons of reported crime between divisions, local government areas, and other units. This analysis assists in the identification of complex relationships between crime and demographic and socioeconomic data. This financial year also produced the first release of National Crime Statistics by the Australian Bureau of Statistics for which the same statistical counting rules prepared on a national basis were used. This report contains descriptions and tables of numerous trends and comparisons including 10-year trends, divisional comparisons, personnel, firearms, and warrant information summaries, and traffic statistics. Three appendixes include illustrative tables, a listing of South Australia Police Divisions, and offense classifications.
