SOUTH DAKOTA'S PLAN FOR GUARANTEEING THE CONFIDENTIALITY OF SENSITIVE CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORD INFORMATION IS PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PLAN ARE TO CARRY OUT THE RULES AND REGULATIONS ESTABLISHED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE; TO ASSURE THAT CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORD INFORMATION IS COLLECTED, STORED, AND DISSEMINATED IN A MANNER THAT WILL INSURE ITS COMPLETENESS, INTEGRITY, ACCURACY, AND SECURITY; AND TO PROTECT THE PRIVACY OF THE INDIVIDUALS TO WHOM THE RECORDS PERTAIN. THE PLAN OUTLINES THE APPROACH TO ACHIEVING THESE OBJECTIVES IN SECTIONS ON COMPLETENESS AND ACCURACY, LIMITATIONS ON DISSEMINATION, AUDITS AND QUALITY CONTROL, SECURITY, AND INDIVIDUAL RIGHT OF ACCESS AND REVIEW. RESPONSIBILITIES OF INVOLVED AGENCIES ARE DISCUSSED, AS ARE PENALTIES FOR NONCOMPLIANCE. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION INCLUDES THE RELEVANT FEDERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS AND STATE LAWS. (LKM)
