THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY WAS TO COMPARE, AT A MACRO-GEOGRAPHIC LEVEL, CERTAIN ASPECTS OF CRIMES TAKING PLACE WITHIN 27 MAJOR PUBLIC HOUSING PROJECTS OPERATED BY THE CUYAHOGA METROPOLITAN HOUSING AUTHORITY.
Abstract
A COMPARISON WAS MADE FOR INCIDENTS REPORTED OVER A 24 MONTH PERIOD ENDING IN MARCH 1975, WITH ATTENTION GIVEN TO ARCHITECTURAL TYPES OF HOUSING UNITS IN GENERAL TERMS AS WELL AS TO CHARACTERISTICS OF THE RESIDENT POPULATIONS OF THE DWELLINGS. THE ISSUE EXAMINED WITHIN THIS STUDY IS WHETHER OR NOT DESIGN, AS MANIFESTED BY ARCHITECTURAL TYPE ON THE ONE HAND AND GENERAL LOCATION ON THE OTHER, COULD HELP TO EXPLAIN OVERALL DISTRIBUTIONS OF CRIME.
