Abstract
THE BELGIAN JUVENILE POLICE WERE ESTABLISHED UNDER A LAW DATED APRIL 8, 1975. IT IS INTENDED THAT THEIR MISSION WILL BE ESSENTIALLY A PREVENTIVE ONE. THEY ARE EXPECTED TO IDENTIFY AND INVESTIGATE MINORS IN DANGER OF BECOMING OFFENDERS AND PREVENT THAT FROM HAPPENING, IF POSSIBLE. THEY ALSO INVESTIGATE CASES WHERE MINORS ARE VICTIMS OR WITNESSES OF CRIME.
