REPORT ON THIS PLANNED, SHORT-TERM INTENSIVE TREATMENT PROGRAM FOR DELINQUENT BOYS.
Abstract
THE GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THIS PROGRAM ARE TO PROVIDE INTENSIVE GROUP COUNSELING AND REMEDIAL ACADEMIC AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING FOR YOUTH, AND RELATIONSHIP COUNSELING FOR FAMILIES. THIS JUVENILE HALFWAY-IN-HOUSE HAS BOTH RESIDENTIAL AND DAY CARE COMPONENTS. DAILY GUIDED GROUP INTERACTION THERAPY SESSIONS ARE AUGMENTED BY ACADEMIC AND VOCATIONAL INSTRUCTION CONDUCTED BY TWO SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTORS. THE ORGANIZATION, RECORDS AND IMPACT OF THE PROGRAM WERE CONSIDERED IN THE EVALUATION. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PROGRAM CHANGE CITE THE NEED FOR ADDITIONAL TRAINING FOR GROUP LEADERS. THE EVALUATORS FROM THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON CRIME AND DELINQUENCY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THIS PROGRAM FOR FULL REFUNDING.
