This annual report outlines the duties of each division of the St. Paul Police Department (Minnesota) and presents crime and arrest statistics for 1980.
Abstract
The composition of duties of the office of the chief and the patrol and investigative divisions are described. Data tables address offenses by patrol team area, Part I offenses and arrests, clearance rates, traffic accidents, crimes against persons and property, incidents of juvenile delinquency, and juvenile dispositions. In 1980, Part I offenses increased 5.25 percent over 1979, and the number of arrests increased by 14.6 percent over the previous year. There were 10,956 traffic accidents, 876 robberies, 7,297 burglaries, and 202 cases of arson. A total of 4,123 incidents of juvenile delinquency and 1,954 missing juveniles were reported during the year. A final section describes the technical and administrative division of the department, presenting data tables on police training; communications handled; use of the crime laboratory; personnel distribution, promotions, and retirements; and the records and identification unit. Organizational and pie charts, graphs, and additional tables are provided.
