THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ST. PAUL (MINN.) POLICE DEPARTMENT IS PRESENTED, FOCUSING ON ACTIVITIES OF SIX TEAM AREAS IDENTIFIED FOR IMPLEMENTING A TEAM POLICING APPROACH.
Abstract
IN 1977, THE ST. PAUL POLICE DEPARTMENT IMPLEMENTED A TEAM POLICING APPROACH DECENTRALIZING THE AUTHORITY WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT AND BROADENING THE DECISIONMAKING BASE TO INVOLVE INPUT FROM ALL DEPARTMENTAL MEMBERS. REPORTS FOR EACH OF THE SIX TEAM AREAS ARE PRESENTED AS WELL AS THE ACTIVITIES OF SPECIAL UNITS WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT, INCLUDING THE ORDINANCE DISPOSAL UNIT, THE CRITICAL-INCIDENT-RESPONSE TEAM, THE CRIME ANALYSIS/SYSTEMS SECTION, THE INVESTIGATIVE DIVISION, AND THE TECHNICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISION. STATISTICS ARE PRESENTED FOR ARREST INCIDENTS, TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS, PERSONNEL DATA, AND BUDGET ALLOCATIONS. (DAG)
