Abstract
STANDARDS FOR THE ADULT CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM COVER THE CATEGORIES OF ORGANIZATION OF POLICE SERVICE; POLICE PERSONNEL; THE POLICE ROLE; COMMUNITY CRIME PREVENTION; PROSECUTION AND DEFENSE; COURT ORGANIZATION; JUDICIAL SELECTION, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING; THE PRETRIAL PROCESS; TRIAL PREPARATION; SENTENCING, PROBATION, AND PAROLE; ADMINISTRATION OF CORRECTIONS; AND VICTIM ASSISTANCE SERVICES. JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM STANDARDS CONCERN PREADJUDICATION ALTERNATIVES, COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT, DETENTION AND SHELTER CARE OF JUVENILES, THE JUVENILE JUDICIAL PROCESS, AND JUVENILE DISPOSITION AND CORRECTIONS. CONSIDERATION IS GIVEN WITHIN EACH CATEGORY TO PROBLEM ASSESSMENT AND TO NEW JERSEY'S STATUS IN COMPARISON WITH THE NATIONAL STANDARDS; COMMENTARY IS PROVIDED FOR EACH TOPIC.
