This document provides suggestions on how to develop a plan for upgrading juvenile community residential facilities, programs and procedures in accordance with nationally recognized and respected standards.
Abstract
Standards discussed in this report apply to Large Community Residential Programs (nonsecure residential centers that provide a structured living environment and personal and social services to juveniles who have usually been placed there through court commitment or as a condition of probation), and Group Homes (nonsecure residential programs emphasizing family-style living in a homelike atmosphere for court-committed juveniles as well as abused or neglected juveniles placed by social agencies). The report contains data on: (1) Administration and Management; (2) Physical Plant; (3) Facility Operations; (4) Facility Services; and (5) Juvenile Services. The document includes a Declaration of Principles of the first (International) Congress of Correction and a form for proposals of standard revisions. Appendixes, glossary, index, table
