This report presents the proceedings of the 1994 American Correctional Association Winter Conference and the 124th Congress of Correction.
Abstract
The 45 individual papers reflect a range of topics, including gaining media attention; health care; literacy; management concerns; and concerns that relate to prison crowding, inmate families, probation and parole, the Americans With Disabilities Act, the use of the arts in corrections, and community corrections. Papers are included on issues that affect particular groups: juveniles, gangs, culturally diverse individuals, women, sex offenders, and victims. The report also contains the complete text of the 1994 American Correctional Association resolutions on the following topics: jurisdiction for juvenile offenders, Family Unity Demonstration Project Act, international transfer of prisoners and those on conditional release, technical assistance to foreign correctional agencies, United Nations Quintuennial Congress on the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, and incarceration of undocumented immigrants.
