Abstract
An introduction explains the purpose of law-related education and notes that court involvement in these programs can help overcome common misconceptions about the judicial system and foster understanding of the rights of the accused and the steps involved in the judicial process. A chapter on procedures for the management of court-related programs in law-related education emphasizes the importance of designating one person to be in charge of a court's program. The coordinator's responsibilities, the use of The coordinator's responsibilities, the use of surveys to determine existing activities and needs in law-related education, the training of court personnel, and funding are covered. Further chapters give examples of court law-related education programs and explain how they were developed and implemented. The programs involve courts of various sizes and levels of activity and from various regions of the Nation. General resources, printed curriculum and program materials, and audiovisual materials are discussed. Methods of using court resources in court visitation programs, mock trials, and other activities are given. Appendixes present a list of State coordinators for law-related education for Phi Alpha Delta, another list of State court and school contacts, lists of curriculum and program materials, and addresses of resource organizations.
