THIS MANUAL PRESENTS THE RULES, REGULATIONS, AND PROCEDURES FOR THE NEW MEXICO JUVENILE PAROLE BOARD.
Abstract
SUBJECT AREAS COVERED INCLUDE THE GRANTING OR DENIAL OF PAROLE, PAROLE HEARINGS, SPECIAL HEARINGS, CHANGING PAROLE CONDITIONS, INTERVIEWS AND INVESTIGATIONS, SUPERVISION, INVESTIGATION, PAROLE CONDITIONS, AND PAROLE DISCHARGES. CRITERIA TO BE USED IN GRANTING OR DENYING PAROLE INCLUDE THE CHILD'S ABILITY AND WILLINGNESS TO ABIDE BY THE LAW, THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD AND THE COMMUNITY, ADEQUATE RESIDENCE, SUPERVISION, AND JOB, SCHOOL, OR VOCATIONAL TRAINING. TYPES OF PAROLE HEARINGS INCLUDE THE INITIAL HEARING, REVIEW HEARING, AND SPECIAL HEARING. THE CHILD'S HISTORY SHOULD INCLUDE A COMPLETE DELINQUENCY HISTORY, FAMILY HISTORY, SOCIAL HISTORY, SCHOOL HISTORY, PSYCHOLOGICAL/PSYCHIATRIC HISTORY, AND PERTINENT MEDICAL REPORTS. PAROLE PLANS SHOULD SPECIFY EMPLOYMENT, HOUSING, SCHOOLING, PARENTS' AND GUARDIANS' WILLINGNESS TO ACCEPT THE CHILD, COMMUNITY RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO HELP THE CHILD, AND THE COMMUNITY'S ACCEPTANCE OF THE CHILD'S REENTRY. PAROLE CONDITIONS INCLUDE SUBMISSION OF MONTHLY REPORTS AND OBTAINING A TRAVEL PERMIT BEFORE LEAVING THE COUNTY TO WHICH ONE IS PAROLED. PAROLE DISCHARGE CLASSIFICATIONS INCLUDE MERITED DISCHARGE, SATISFACTORY DISCHARGE, AND UNSATISFACTORY DISCHARGE. FORMS USED FOR A NOTICE OF ACTION, CERTIFICATION OF PAROLE, PAROLE AGREEMENTS, AND JUVENILE PAROLE TERMINATION ARE INCLUDED. (CFW)
