This report presents and analyzes the results of the State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Profile (SADAP) data for 1992.
Abstract
This report ensures the continued availability of selected service and resource information from already existing State sources throughout the United States and the Territories. Results indicate in 1992 expenditures for alcohol and other drug problem treatment and prevention services totaled nearly $3.4 billion; States provided $1.2 billion or 37.1 percent, while Federal sources provided nearly $1.3 billion or 38.2 percent. Approximately 77.1 percent of the total monies funded treatment services, 15.3 percent for prevention servicers, and 7.6 percent for other activities, such as capital construction, training, research, and administration. Other data elements include financial, program, and client data that States are willing to voluntarily submit to assist National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD), Office of Applied Studies, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (OAS/SAMHSA) in assessing the types of treatment and prevention resources and services provided to persons throughout the country who are experiencing problems with alcohol and/or other drugs. Information is categorized into the following seven areas: funding levels and sources; client admission characteristics; injection drug abuse; top policy issues; major unmet needs; significant changes in treatment and/or prevention services; and responses to special questions. Policy issues are included in the discussion. Table, figures, and appendixes
