This handbook presents 40 statistical indicators on youth for 171 countries or areas of the world.
Abstract
All members of the United Nations and all other countries or areas with a population of 150,000 or more, for which population statistics by age and sex for at least 1 year are available, are covered. The indicators are a product of continuous and extensive coordination and collaboration among national and international statistical services in data collection and dissemination. Data were obtained from national statistical services. In a few cases, these statistics are supplemented by estimates and projections by international organizations, taking into account available national data. The 40 statistical indicators are in the following fields of direct concern to youth: population composition and change; education, training and literacy; economic activity; family formation and fertility; and life expectancy and mortality. For each country and area, statistics for indicators are presented under the aforementioned categories. 9 references.
