Comparative 1976 totals in the two categories were 5,821 and 9,910 respectively; the delinquency rate increased between 1976 and 1977 from 107 to 118 per 10,000 12-to-17-year-olds.
Abstract
Tabular statistics show charged and suspected juvenile misdemeanors according to offense type, geographic distribution, and personal characteristics -- age, sex, place of residence, and former offenses. Status offenses are similarly tabulated. Data are also given on the applied repressive measures: juvenile correctional institutions, reform schools, arrest, and probation. The bulk of the document consists of tabular data.
