Nearly 80,000 offenses against prison discipline were punished in 1988 in England and Wales.
Abstract
This was seven and a half percent more than in 1987 and followed a five percent fall for that year. There were increases for both males and females, but while the figure for males was higher than for any year in the previous decade, the figures for females have been more volatile in the past. The offenses for which punishments were most frequently awarded were disobedience or disrespect. 20 tables.
