Intended for training law enforcement personnel, this document explains the nature and effects of stimulant and depressant drugs and provides questions and answers to test the reader's knowledge.
Abstract
The text describes the history of abuse of stimulants; sources of stimulants; the symptoms of acute effects; and types of stimulants, including amphetamines, non-amphetamine stimulants, and combination products. Depressants are also described, including barbiturates, tranquilizers, and nonbarbiturate acid drugs. Guidelines are given for tentatively identifying particular drugs based on the shape and markings of tablets or capsules.
