Abstract
PROBABLE CAUSE AND REASONABLENESS REQUIREMENTS WHICH MUST BE MET BY THE MERCHANT IN DETAINING AND QUESTIONING SUSPECTS ARE DISCUSSED. RELATED CASE LAW IN OTHER JURISDICTIONS IS BRIEFLY REVIEWED. A DIALOGUE IS CONSTRUCTED TO ANSWER TANGENTIAL QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MISSISSIPPI EXPERIENCE.
