Abstract
THE MATERIAL IS ARRANGED IN TWO COLUMNS WITH THE OUTLINE JUXTAPOSED NEXT TO TEACHING SUGGESTIONS. DESIGNED FOR RETAIL BUSINESS SUPERVISORY AND NONSUPERVISORY PERSONNEL, THE ENTIRE COURSE CAN BE TAUGHT IN 8 HOURS. IN THE FIRST SESSION, THE GENERAL TOPIC OF PAYING BY CHECK IS DISCUSSED. SUBJECTS COVERED ARE MANAGEMENT POLICIES, TYPES OF CHECKS, AND ILLEGAL WAYS OF OBTAINING CHECKS. METHODS OF IDENTIFYING ACCEPTABLE AND BAD CHECKS ARE DESCRIBED IN THE SECOND MEETING. TACTICS TO USE WHEN A CUSTOMER PRESENTS AN UNACCEPTABLE CHECK ARE ALSO COVERED. THE THIRD SESSION FOCUSES ON RECOVERING BAD CHECKS AND SECURITY MEASURES IF FRAUDULENT CHECKS ARE A SERIOUS PROBLEM. METHODS OF SHORT-CHANGE ARTISTS AND SALESPERSONS' DEFENSES ARE EXAMINED IN THE FINAL SESSION. THE MANUAL SUGGESTS PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS FOR THE COURSE AND CONTAINS 30 HANDOUTS THAT CAN BE USED WITH THE OUTLINE.
