This document includes presentations made at the 1991 Third National Conference on Death and Injury, which focused on street gang investigations.
Abstract
The introductory chapter provides general information on street gangs, definition, gang characteristics, and specific information on youth gangs, prison gangs, Mexican and Hispanic gangs, black gangs, and white gangs. The group summaries cover leadership, membership, and involvement in criminal activities. Subsequent chapters present the gang-related experiences of a psychologist, psychiatrist, street police officer, narcotics officer, and forensic scientist. The emphasis of these papers in on drug-related activities and violence associated with gangs.
