This report summarizes the activities carried out by the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in response to three resolutions passed by the United Nations General Assembly.
Abstract
The resolutions reflected the increasing concern about the adverse effects of rising crime on progress and development. The resolutions emphasized the need to develop effective countermeasures to crime, to strengthen international cooperation in addressing crime, and to explore new responses to the increasing crime across national borders. Recommended activities included technical assistance and training, information exchange, further cooperation regarding environmental offenses, more uniform drug laws, new efforts to address organized crime, international cooperation against terrorism, and implementation of United Nations standards on human rights and other topics. 7 reference notes
