Abstract
After reviewing the why and how of firearms training, the manual delineates the parts of a revolver and an auto-pistol, handgun ammunition, holsters, and loading devices for revolvers and auto-pistols. Guidelines for firearms safety cover the handling and carrying of handguns on-duty and off-duty as well as the handling of shotguns and rifles. Guidelines are also provided for range safety. Steps are described for the cleaning of a revolver and an auto-pistol. Shooting fundamentals cover sight alignment and sight picture, trigger control, two-hand grip, and stances and positions. Topics addressed in range training are loading and unloading, range commands, and malfunction procedures. Issues pertinent to the shotgun are its tactical use, loading and unloading, the shotgun shell, and shooting fundamentals. Aspects of the weapons-use decisionmaking are tactics in the use of deadly force, legal aspects of the decision process, and its moral aspects. Appended relevant legislation and 4-item bibliography.
