ONE OF A CONTINUING SERIES OF STUDIES DESIGNED TO DEVELOP THE MEANS OF PREDICTING AND UNDERSTANDING PROGRAM OUTCOME WITH RESPECT TO YOUTHS DISCHARGED FROM THE TREATMENT CENTERS OF THE NEW YORK STATE DIVISION FOR YOUTH (DFY).
Abstract
THE PRESENT STUDY ASSESSED VARIABLES TAKEN FROM ITEMS OF INTAKE AND DISCHARGE FORMS BY MEANS OF MULTIPLE REGRESSION ANALYSIS WITH RESPECT TO THEIR ABILITY TO PREDICT OUTCOMES RELATED TO POST-DISCHARGE RECIDIVISM. SUBJECTS OF THE STUDY WERE DISCHARGEES FROM TREATMENT CENTERS IN 1969 AND 1970 WHO WERE DISCHARGED AFTER THE AGE OF 16. ARREST AND COMMITMENT DATA WERE OBTAINED FROM THE NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES. STUDY FINDINGS INDICATE THAT THE SET OF VARIABLES OF THE INTAKE AND DISCHARGE FORMS ARE RELATED TO POST-DISCHARGE ARREST AND COMMITMENT VARIABLES. FOR RELATED STUDIES, SEE NCJ-35771, 35780, AND 35782.
