ATTEMPT TO ASCERTAIN TO WHAT EXTENT CHILDREN ACQUIRED A COMMITMENT TO OR WERE SOCIALIZED TO ACCEPT THE LEGAL ASPECTS OF THE POLITICAL SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE MAJOR AUTHORITY FIGURE CHOSEN WAS THE POLICEMAN. THE FINDINGS INDICATED A GENERAL TREND TOWARD AN INCREASE IN NEGATIVE FEELING ABOUT THE POLICE WITH AN INCREASE IN AGE. A REVERSE TREND EXISTED IN THE ATTITUDES TOWARD THE LAW. CHILDREN WERE MORE POSITIVE WITH AGE. THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN NEGATIVE FEELING TOWARD FREEDOM FROM THE SECOND THROUGH THE SIXTH GRADE.
