This paper presents information on the incest experience of a volunteer sample of women and their reactions discussed at length in a research setting.
Abstract
The structured interview is a research methodology only recently applied to this population. In this study, it yielded new information about the population. Demographic characteristics of the sample such as age, race, religion, education, marital status, parental status, and sibling rank are presented along with characteristics of the incest experience such as its frequency, duration, location, disclosure, and identity of the perpetrator. Ratings of the severity aftereffects, short- and long-term, are also presented. The findings are discussed as they relate to understanding the victim and her experience and to counseling strategies and techniques. (Author abstract)
