OPINION POLL RESULTS ON TRADITIONAL AND MODERN YOUTH VALUES, AMERICAN SOCIETY, AND TACTICS FOR DISAGREEMENT, INCLUDING DRAFT RESISTANCE AND STUDENT MOVEMENTS.
Abstract
THE SURVEYS INCLUDE THOSE CONDUCTED BY DANIEL YANKELOVICH, ROPER RESEARCH ASSOCIATES, AND PSYCHOLOGY TODAY. ALSO INCLUDED ARE RESULTS OF THE GALLUP OPINION INDEX AND THE LOUIS HARRIS ASSOCIATES POLL. THE AUTHOR NOTES THAT IMPORTANT DIFFERENCES EMERGE BETWEEN YOUNG PEOPLE WHO HAVE, AND THOSE WHO HAVE NOT HAD COLLEGE EXPERIENCE. HOWEVER, EVEN MORE PRONOUNCED DIFFERENCES EXIST BETWEEN TWO GROUPS OF COLLEGE STUDENTS- THOSE ATTENDING COLLEGE TO SECURE GOOD JOBS AND INCOMES, AND THOSE WHO SEE COLLEGE AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SEEK SOMETHING OTHER THAN PRACTICAL BENEFITS. THE REPORT INCLUDES SURVEY QUESTIONS AND RESPONSES AND AN 18 PAGE BIBLIOGRAPHY. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
