This report summarizes the responses of Delaware Multijurisdictional Drug Task Force Commanders to a survey that examined various aspects of their task-force work.
Abstract
Up to 1,200 multijurisdictional drug task forces have been formed throughout the Nation with Federal funds from the 1986 and 1988 Anti-Drug Abuse Acts. These task forces aim to disrupt illicit drug distribution systems that cross jurisdictional boundaries. The survey of the Delaware task force commanders assessed developmental changes in drug task force organization, objectives, targets, and population/area. The survey also asked commanders for their opinions on the reasons for any observed changes that have affected task force work. Performance indicator data (1988- 91) were collected on the number of investigations, arrests, asset seizures, and drug seizures. The commander survey responses are presented under the following topics: goals of drug task forces, drug task force targets, the impact of task forces, tactics used by drug task forces, the greatest contribution of drug task forces, and drug task force arrests and activities. A copy of the DOC (Department of Corrections) Forecast Monitoring Report for the third quarter of 1993 is provided with the survey summary. This report projects an increase in detention and inmate populations starting in the first quarter of 1993. 4 tables and appended survey questionnaire
