This article provides a brief review of the United Kingdom’s hosted youth justice Web sites.
Abstract
In the United Kingdom, there is an enormous amount of relevant Web sites hosted by statutory, voluntary, charitable, and media organizations providing a wealth of information relating to the criminal justice process, youth crime and disorder, research, legislation, and community projects. This article undertook an opportune survey of youth justice and youth crime-related United Kingdom-based resources that are available on the World-Wide Web. Web sites are assessed which are hosted by national organizations, including the Home Office and other government agencies. It then examines those devised by foundations, charities, and voluntary organizations. Finally, it analyzes Web sites that act as information resources, such as national newspapers. The resources range from Web sites supported by the Home Office through those dedicated to promoting the involvement of young people in community activities. The Web sites are intended to provide researchers with a sufficient variety of detailed material and practical examples of youth justice initiatives.
