Abstract
THE SURVEY WAS DESIGNED TO GATHER INFORMATION ON PROGRAM TRENDS, THE DEVELOPMENT OF PROGRAM STRUCTURE, THE NEEDS OF VARIOUS SIZE COMMUNITIES, AND THE MANAGEMENT OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES. FIFTY-TWO COLLEGE LEVEL INSTITUTIONS LISTED AS SPONSORING SOME TYPE OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN CURRICULUM. DATA IS PRESENTED ON THE 26 PROGRAMS WHICH RESPONDED TO THE SURVEY. DATA PRESENTED COVERS THE TYPE OF PROGRAM OFFERED, THE NATURE OF COLLEGE ACCREDITATION (IF ANY), RELATED COURSE CONTENT, PRINCIPAL EMPLOYERS, CAREER POTENTIAL, OPINIONS ON RECOMMENDED TRAINING AND EDUCATION, EXTENT OF PROGRESS IN THE FIELD, AND THE IMPACT OF GEOGRAPHY AND DEMOGRAPHY ON THE EXISTENCE OF SUCH PROGRAMS. THIS SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED BY THE COLLEGE EDUCATION BUREAU OF THE NASSAU COUNTY (NY) POLICE DEPARTMENT.
