AN ANALYSIS OF THE KANSAS CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM TO DETERMINE ITS EFFECTIVENESS AND TO MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ITS IMPROVEMENT.
Abstract
THIS STUDY EMPLOYED A VARIETY OF METHODOLOGIES INCLUDING FIELD INTERVIEWS, QUESTIONNAIRES AND THE ANALYSIS OF OFFICIAL FORMS. FOLLOWING A DEFINITION OF THE PROBLEM, THE DISTRICT AND COUNTY COURT SURVEYS ARE SUMMARIZED. APPROXIMATELY 300 PAGES ARE DEVOTED TO AN ANALYSIS AND REPRODUCTION OF OFFICIAL FORMS AND SYSTEM FLOWCHARTS. A CRIME SENSITIVITY INDEX AS WELL AS MEASUREMENT TECHNIQUES AND A NEW DEFINITION OF RECIDIVISM ARE SUGGESTED. A PROPOSAL FOR THE SYSTEMIZATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION IN KANSAS IS PUT FORTH INCLUDING NEW FORMS THAT STANDARDIZE THE QUALITY OF INFORMATION.
