These eight papers examine criminal laws related to environmental crime, and trends and issues related to the enforcement of these laws.
Abstract
The Attorney General of the United States explains why the criminal enforcement of environmental laws is a national priority. Additional papers describe the oil spill case involving the Exxon Valdez and the case involving John Pozsgai's violation of a wetlands protection law, the role of criminal intent in cases relating to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and the role of criminal sanctions. Other papers focus on the activities of the Department of Justice and the Environmental Protection Agency in enforcing environmental laws, environmental criminal enforcement priorities for the 1990's, enforcement on Federal facilities, and the cleanup of hazardous waste sites.
