THIS PROPOSED SYSTEM FOR THE WEST GERMAN POLICE COMMAND AND CONTROL CENTER IS INTENDED TO IMPROVE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF POLICE COMMUNICATIONS IN DEALING WITH INCREASING CRIME RATES.
Abstract
THE SYSTEM CONISTS OF MONITOR OPERATING POSITIONS WHICH SORT AND ROUTE EMERGENCY CALLS, COMMO AND COMPONENTS WHICH ASSIGN MOBILE VEHICLES TO EMERGENCY CALLS AND MONITOR FURTHER PROGRESS, SUPPORT UNITS FOR THE COMMAND COMPONENT, MANAGEMENT COMPONENTS WHICH HAVE ACCESS TO INFORMATION ABOUT ANY ONGOING EVENT AT ANY GIVEN TIME, AND VEHICLES EQUIPPED TO RECEIVE LARGE QUANTITIES OF INFORMATION. THE COMPUTER-BASED COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM COMBINES SUCH FEATURES AS AUTOMATION OF RECURRING ROUTINE RADIO REPORTS, TERMINALS IN PATROL CARS TO DEAL WITH INQUIRIES, COMPUTER-GENERATED MANAGEMENT DATA, AND A MONITOR COMPUTER TO ASSURE SMOOTH FUNCTION OF THE WHOLE SYSTEM AND TO LOCATE MISTAKES. THE PROBABLE COST OF A PILOT SYSTEM WITH 100 MOBILE TERMINALS IS 21.5 MILLION MARKS, AND THE PROBABLE TIME REQUIRED TO HAVE THE WHOLE SYSTEM OPERATING IS 3 YEARS. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR EACH OF THE SYSTEM COMPONENTS AND EQUIPMENT PROPOSED FOR EACH FUNCTION ARE DESCRIBED IN DETAIL. A BIBLIOGRAPHY AND ILLUSTRATIONS ARE PROVIDED. --IN GERMAN. (KMD)
