A nonprofit corporation, funded by a municipality for the sole purpose of delivering psychological services to police and perhaps other public employees, should realistically describe the services offered, state the qualifications and roles of the service providers, maintain an appropriate records system, and state procedure.
Abstract
A realistic description of services should indicate who is eligible for the services and the priority given to various types of services. Staff members might include a program administrator responsible for budget and clerical matters and a chief psychologist responsible for all service activities. The expectations and roles of staff members should be delineated. The records system should allow for accountability while ensuring confidentiality, and procedures for program activities should be available in writing. Procedures should cover such topics as treatment authorization, how records are kept, fees, and how behavioral cause evaluations are to be conducted. Supplementary materials include an authority flow chart, service categories, job descriptions for a chief psychologist and program administrator, a reporting system, information on psychological services, procedures for a behavioral cause evaluation, and other relevant forms.
