SEVERAL HUNGARIAN APPROACHES TO CRIME CONTROL ARE OUTLINED, INCLUDING TRADITIONAL PROSECUTION, DIVERSION TO SOCIAL AGENCIES, AND COMMUNITY BASED CORRECTIONS.
Abstract
A HUNGARIAN CRIMINOLOGIST ANALYZES HUNGARY'S GROWING INDUSTRIALIZATION AND URBANIZATION TO DETERMINE IF THERE IS A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RAPID SOCIAL CHANGE AND CRIME. HE ENUMERATES THE VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS WHICH ARE INVOLVED IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN HUNGARY ON THE CAUSES OF CRIME IS SUMMARIZED, AS WELL AS INNOVATIONS IN THE TREATMENT OF JUVENILE DELINQUENTS. THE AUTHOR CONCLUDES BY EMPHASIZING THAT EFFORTS IN CRIME PREVENTION MUST MOVE ALONG TWO LINES- IMPROVING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE CRIMINAL LAW AND INTENSIFYING THE EXPLOITATION OF PUBLIC AND SOCIAL RESOURCES.
