RESULTS OF A SURVEY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF SYSTEMS FOR THE EVALUATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAMS FUNDED THROUGH LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION (LEAA) GRANTS.
Abstract
LEAA ESTABLISHED A REQUIREMENT FOR PROGRAM EVALUATION IN EARLY 1972. STATE PLANNING AGENCIES (SPA'S) ORGANIZED PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE SAFE STREETS ACT WERE SURVEYED FROM MAY THROUGH OCTOBER OF 1972 IN ORDER TO IDENTIFY THE NATURE AND EXTENT OF PROJECT AND PROGRAM EVALUATION ACTIVITY UNDERWAY OR PLANNED. THE SURVEY EMPHASIZED THE IDENTIFICATION AND DESCRIPTION OF 'EVALUATION SYSTEM' DEVELOPMENT. THIS REPORT PRESENTS A TABULAR SUMMARY OF EVALUATION ACTIVITY IN EACH OF THE 54 JURISDICTIONS HAVING A SPA. FOUR INNOVATIVE SYSTEMS IN DELAWARE, MASSACHUSETTS, INDIANA, AND OHIO ARE DESCRIBED IN GREATER DETAIL. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
