PRESENTS A MODEL THAT INVOLVES IDENTIFICATION OF THE CLIENT'S PROBLEM, SETTING OF CHANGE OBJECTIVES, A PROGRAM DESIGNED TO REACH OBJECTIVES, AND EVALUATION PROCEDURES TO MEASURE CLIENT PROGRESS.
Abstract
THE MODEL FOR UNDERSTANDING THE PATIENT'S PROBLEM INCLUDES A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM SITUATION, AN ANALYSIS OF MOTIVATIONAL COMPONENTS, THE DEVELOPMENT OF A CHANGE MODEL, AND THE NEGOTIATION OF A PATIENT-THERAPIST TASK AGREEMENT. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A CHANGE PROGRAM IS CONSIDERED TO INVOLVE A MEANS OF GATHERING DATA REQUIRED IN ORDER TO EVALUATE TREATMENT. EMPHASIS OF THE TREATMENT IS ON ACCOUNTABILITY, RELEVANCY, AND EFFICIENCY. FAILURE OF A CHANGE PROGRAM TO MEET OBJECTIVES IS DEEMED A SIGNAL TO THE THERAPIST TO REEXAMINE HIS UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROBLEM SITUATION AND CONSEQUENT CHANGE PROGRAM.
