This article presents manufacturer enhancements to improving walk-through metal detectors.
Abstract
Since the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States, manufacturers have made great strides in producing consistent, safe, and accurate walk-through metal detectors. There has been an increased demand for more sensitive detectors with manufacturers responding to the demand with increasingly sensitive detectors. Detectors can maintain interface capabilities with other security controls allowing a single operator to lock access doors or barriers or remotely control a bank of detectors. There has also been an increase for detectors to be configured for tighter areas and for the detectors to be easily transported. Different types of walk-through detector equipment from various manufacturers are briefly discussed and include: (1) Control Screening LLC in New Jersey; (2) Fisher Labs in California; (3) Garrett Metal Detectors in Texas; (4) Metorex Security Products in California; and (5) View Systems Inc., in Maryland.
