FLOOR PLANS, A FIRE MARSHAL'S REPORT, AND AN ANALYSIS OF THE NEED FOR VARIOUS TYPES OF SPACE ARE INCLUDED IN THIS SPACE UTILIZATION STUDY FOR THE FLORIDA SUPREME COURT BUILDING.
Abstract
THIS COURT TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROJECT WAS REQUESTED BECAUSE THE FLORIDA SUPREME COURT WORKLOAD INCREASED 67 PERCENT BETWEEN 1972 AND 1976, NECESSITATING MORE PERSONNEL AND A CONCOMITANT INCREASE IN SPACE. FURTHER, THERE IS AN ANTICIPATED ADDITION OF STAFF IN THE STATE COURTS ADMINISTRATOR'S OFFICE PROMPTED BY CONSOLIDATION OF INFORMATION SYSTEM OPERATIONS AND AN INCREASE IN RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS PROGRAMS. THIS REPORT DETAILS EXISTING USES OF SPACE AND SUGGESTS PROPOSED ALLOCATIONS BASED ON USE OF THE FIRST AND SECOND FLOORS FOR JUDICIAL AND SYMBOLIC FUNCTIONS, WITH THE BASEMENT AND SUBBASEMENT DEVOTED TO PROFESSIONAL ADMINISTRATION AND SUPPORT FUNCTIONS. A BUILDING COMMITTEE IS RECOMMENDED FOR FINAL ALLOCATION OF SPACE. A MAJOR PART OF THE REPORT IS THE FIRE MARSHAL'S SURVEY, WHICH RECOMMENDS THAT DEFECTIVE FIRE DOORS AND OTHER VIOLATIONS BE CORRECTED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. (GLR)
