DESCRIPTION OF THIS PROGRAM WHICH USES A MULTI-FACETED APPROACH TO INTERRUPT THE CYCLE OF STREET CRIMES AND INCARCERATION THROUGH TREATMENT OF OPIATE ADDICTED INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE COMMITTED CRIMES AGAINST PROPERTY.
Abstract
THE TWO MAJOR PROGRAM GOALS ARE TO REDUCE DRUG ABUSE AND ADDICTION AND TO REDUCE DRUG ABUSE-RELATED CRIMES THROUGH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPREHENSIVE DRUG-FREE COMMUNITY TREATMENT AND REHABILITATION PROGRAM. TASC ACCEPTS QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS AT THE TIME OF ARREST OR INITIAL INCARCERATION, WHEN THE INDIVIDUAL GOES TO COURT FOR SENTENCING, OR AFTER AN INDIVIDUAL IS ON PROBATION OR PAROLE. THIS ARTICLE BRIEFLY DESCRIBES THE TASC TREATMENT MODALITIES; THE TASC TRACKING UNIT, WHICH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GATHERING DATA ON PROGRAM CLIENTS AND POTENTIAL CLIENTS; THE JOB DEVELOPMENT UNIT, WHICH PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR CLIENTS; AND THE TASC MANAGEMENT UNIT, WHICH DIRECTS AND COORDINATES ALL PROGRAM ACTIVITIES.
