Based on the Boys Town Family Home Program model of child care and treatment, this curriculum focuses on the development of social skills in children.
Abstract
The curriculum outlines elements of social behavior (task and behavior analysis), individual and group teaching techniques, skill-based treatment interventions for difficult youth problems, and the Boys Town social skills curriculum. The emphasis is on viewing social skills training as a pervasive intervention strategy that can be used to address serious youth issues, including suicide, aggressive acting out, depression, delinquency, and school-related problems. The curriculum defines positive alternatives to many maladaptive and self-defeating behavior patterns in which young people may engage. 2 appendixes and 30 references
