PROGRAMS THAT HELP TEACHERS DEVELOP COURSES ON THE LAW, LEGAL PROCESSES, AND THE LEGAL SYSTEM ARE DISCUSSED IN SEVERAL ARTICLES WRITTEN BY EDUCATORS AND PROJECT ADMINISTRATORS.
Abstract
THE COLLECTION CONTAINS AN ARTICLE THAT SUGGESTS METHODS FOR ASSESSING COMMUNITY ATTITUDES AND OPINIONS ON THE COMPONENTS OF A LEGAL EDUCATION PROGRAM; A PAPER ADDRESSING GENERAL TOPICS, SUCH AS COMMUNITY SUPPORT, SELECTING STUDENTS AND STAFF, SCHEDULING, AND OTHER LOGISTIC PROBLEMS; AND ARTICLES ON LAW-RELATED EDUCATION IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. THE MAJOR PORTION OF THE BOOK IS DEVOTED TO DESCRIPTIONS OF VARIOUS APPROACHES TO TEACHER EDUCATION. THESE RANGE FROM AWARENESS SESSIONS TO INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS. THE CONCLUDING ARTICLE DISCUSSES FOLLOWUP PROGRAMS TO ASSIST TEACHERS WHEN THEY ARE ACTUALLY CONDUCTING CLASSES ON LAW. EACH ARTICLE PROVIDES THE ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER OF THE PROGRAM BEING DESCRIBED. A SECTION ON ADDITIONAL RESOURCES CONTAINS A LIST OF THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION'S PUBLICATIONS ON LAW-RELATED EDUCATION, A SHORT ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY ON LAW-RELATED TEACHER EDUCATION, AND DISCUSSION OF AND WAYS TO OBTAIN INFORMATION ON LEGAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR TEACHERS.
