Abstract
BASIC RULES OF CONDUCT ARE OUTLINED FOR BOTH WARRANT AND PROBABLE CAUSE ARRESTS, WITH EXAMPLES BEING GIVEN OF BOTH GOOD AND BAD ARREST PROCEDURES. THE DISCUSSION OF WARRANT ARREST PROCEDURES EMPHASIZES PLANNING TO ACHIEVE SIMPLICITY, SPEED, SURPRISE, SUPERIORITY (IN MANPOWER AND FIREPOWER), AND SAFETY. COVERED ARE USE OF FORCE, THE MIRANDA RULES, SEARCHES INCIDENT TO ARREST, AND ILLEGAL SEARCHES. OTHER AREAS DISCUSSED INCLUDE SUSPECT HANDCUFFING AND TRANSFER, AUTOMOBILE SEARCHES, ARRESTS OF FEMALE SUBJECTS, AND THE HANDLING OF FLEEING SUSPECT AND ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP SITUATIONS.
