IT PROCEEDS FROM A STATEMENT OF THE PURPOSE AND FUNCTION OF THE LEGAL INVESTIGATOR, THROUGH A REVIEW OF THE LAW WITH WHICH THE INVESTIGATOR MUST BE CONVERSANT, TO GENERAL INVESTIGATIVE TECHNIQUES, AND THEN INTO SPECIFIC TECHNIQUES FOR VARIOUS TYPES OF CIVIL NEGLIGENCE AND TORT INVESTIGATION. INCLUDED IS A DISCUSSION OF THE LAW OF EVIDENCE, INTERVIEWING WITNESSES, PHOTOGRAPHY, AND INVESTIGATION REPORTS. A SECTION ON PROFESSIONAL ETHICS AND A CHAPTER ON CRIMINAL DEFENSE INVESTIGATION ARE ALSO INCLUDED. ILLUSTRATIONS FROM ACTUAL CASES INVESTIGATED BY THE AUTHOR ARE UTILIZED.
