METHODS FOR PRODUCING DISTINCT AND LEGIBLE PRINTS ARE PRESENTED IN THE ARTICLE. FINGERPRINTING DEFORMED AND PARTIALLY AMPUTATED FINGERS AS WELL AS PROPER LABELLING TECHNIQUES FOR THESE ARE ALSO REVIEWED. PROBLEMS SUCH AS ADVANCED AGE AND WORN FINGERTIPS ARE DISCUSSED TO AID THE FINGERPRINT TECHNICIAN TO ADEQUATELY IDENTIFY AND WORK AROUND THEM. PICTURES ILLUSTRATING PROPER TECHNIQUES AND EQUIPMENT AND EXAMPLES OF ACCEPTABLE AND NON-ACCEPTABLE PRINTS ARE INCLUDED.
